    General Care

If properly cared for, Valentine Rouge Jewellery can be treasured for generations to come. We encourage you to follow our general care guidelines in order to ensure the luster and beauty each piece of Valentine Rouge Jewellery bestows.

18k Alloy or 18k Palladium Metals

Avoid sudden temperature changes and contact with cosmetics, hairspray, oils, lotions, perfume or household chemicals.

Avoid exposure to salty air, swimming pools; chlorine and products containing sulfur.

Storage is also important. At time of purchase, all Valentine Rouge jewellery is packaged in a protective box or in a tarnish resistant pouch. Between wearings, we encourage you to keep your jewellery in its original packaging.

Wrap each jewellery piece separately to protect from scratching.

    Sterling Silver

Sterling silver tarnishes, especially when exposed to salty air, swimming pool chlorine and products containing sulfur. Storage is also important. At time of purchase, all Valentine Rouge jewellery is packaged in a protective box or in a tarnish resistant pouch. Between wearings, we encourage you to keep your sterling silver jewellery in its original packaging.

Wrap each jewellery piece separately to protect from scratching.

Gently clean your sterling silver jewellery with a soft polishing cloth. Apply 1 to 2 drops of silver dipping solution to a cotton ball and gently rub the silver if additional cleaning is required. This type of cleanser can usually be found at fine jewellers stores. Do not use ultrasonic cleaning to improve clarity.

Avoid sudden temperature changes and contact with cosmetics, hairspray, oils, lotions, perfume or household chemicals.

    18k Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a layer of electroplated gold over sterling silver. Always remove your gold vermeil jewellery when applying scent, lotions and potions, or even better, always put your jewellery on last when getting dressed.

Never wear your gold vermeil jewellery in the shower or when swimming. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures can permanently damage or discolour your gold vermeil jewellery. Wear dishwashing gloves while cleaning dishware to protect vermeil rings or bracelets.

Gently clean your gold vermeil jewellery with a soft polishing cloth.

Stow your vermeil jewellery in the jewellery box provided by Valentine Rouge, taking care not to drop, bash or scratch.

Apply 1 to 2 drops of silver dipping solution to a cotton ball and gently rub the vermeil if additional cleaning is required. This type of cleanser can usually be found at fine jewellers stores.

    18k Gold Filled

Gold Filled jewellery is the latest introduction into the gold jewellery market at 5% solid gold. Gold prices have significantly gone up, making the purchase of solid gold jewellery a very costly investment. Gold Filled offers an economical alternative, while giving little up in quality. Cared for properly, gold filled jewellery can last a lifetime.

To maintain the beauty of your jewellery whether it is gold filled or solid gold, salt water, chlorine (swimming pools), lotions and perfumes; and all heavy detergents and cleaning agents should be avoided.

    Gemstones

Take care to protect your gemstone jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Gemstones can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals. Therefore, avoid stacking those rings and bracelets that would be vulnerable to such abrasion.

Keep gemstones away from extreme temperatures (beach sun), perfumes, body oils, cosmetics and household chemicals which can damage gemstones or alter its colourful hues.

We suggest that you avoid wearing your jewellery to the beach or gym or during any activity which will increase such risks.

    Cubic Zircon and Swarovski Crystal

Store all crystal jewellery in its original packaging provided by Valentine Rouge, to keep the crystals from getting scratched.

Remove crystal jewellery before taking care of daily needs. If you are wearing a crystal ring, always remove it before washing your hands. When you're getting ready for bed or getting ready for work in the morning, take off all your jewellery before you begin daily rituals, such as washing your face, putting on lotion and perfume, and applying hairspray. The chemicals in the soaps and other products will wear away at the metallic coating on the crystal over time, causing it to lose its sparkle.

Polish crystals frequently. Using a soft, lint-free cloth, polish your crystals frequently so that they maintain their sparkle and dazzling brilliance.
